Mid-Century Modern Italian Murano Art Glass Fish Lamp
Overview
This item is a highly collectible vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian Murano art glass fish table lamp. Originating from the famous glassmaking island of Murano near Venice, Italy, these decorative lamps were typically produced around the 1950s to 1970s by renowned studios such as Artistica Murano, Archimede Seguso, or Flavio Poli. The lamp features a hand-blown glass sculpture depicting two stylized marine fish. It is mounted on a decorative filigree brass or gold-toned metal base with an integrated central rod supporting the bulb socket and harp attachment
Features:
- Handcrafted Murano Glass Artistry: The centerpiece consists of a complex, hand-blown Venetian glass double-fish sculpture. Every piece is completely unique, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship of traditional Italian artisans.ย
- Sommerso & Aventurine Techniques: The glass body features classic mid-century techniques like Sommerso (layered colored glass) and Aventurine. This gives the fish their striking gradient colorationโfading from shimmering emerald green accents to transparent yellow and clear fin structures embedded with brilliant gold foil flecks.ย
- Integrated Filigree Brass Base: The heavy, decorative metal pedestal base anchors the piece. It adds an extra layer of ornate vintage texture with its patterned trim while providing the electrical framework for a standalone structural light source
Note: Some of the glass at the end of the fins have chipped off (see pictures).
